News In The Village
Last month this newsletter
had an item about a set of lost keys. We are pleased to report that a local
resident found the keys and called the number we listed to report the
discovery. The owners of the keys are
very relieved to have them returned. And we would like to thank the caller for
their ‘good neighbour actions’. Further evidence of what makes

Air Conditioning
This year is supposed to be the hottest and most humid, we
have known.
Apart from ensuring you’re A/C system is serviced and is in
good working order take note that
air conditioners, manufactured in 2007, have
a higher Energy Efficiency rating than previous models. If using the latest
refrigerant (Puron or R410A) they are also environmentally friendly.
The combination of these two items means that a new system can
be 40% less expensive to operate than old units and not harm the environment.
Is there a drawback, well the new units are bigger than the
old ones.
Is there an Upside? Well believe it or not, there is. If you
replace your old inefficient air conditioning system with a new unit that
complies with certain guidelines, the Ontario Power Authority is offering
rebates that will start at $350 for an ac system only to $600 if you replace
the furnace as well.

Dog-Gone
Good News
We want to thank all the dog
owners who are doing such a great job picking-up after their 4-legged
friends. Dog owners play a special role
in our community as they are among our most frequent walkers – and it is their
presence that greatly contributes to making our neighbourhood safe. We need them.
So a great big thank you to
all pet walkers!

Seat Belt Campaign Toronto Police have informed us they will be
conducting their spring seat belt campaign from April 23rd – 27th, 2007. There will be a zero tolerance for all offenders.
Remember seat belts save lives. As we make plans to clean up outdoors criminals
are making plans, too. These criminals pick a house where someone is out
in the garden. While you are busy raking, or planting the criminal walks into
your unlocked house and grabs a purse or wallet left at the door or on a
table. People
don’t think this will happen. They think just because they are in the yard
someone wouldn’t take the chance to walk through an unlocked door. And it happens
to young or old home owners. The suspects are usually middle age to older,
male or female, dressed to fit in and not draw attention. If found in the
house they will fake illness, say they are lost or are looking for someone. They
are very cool - they are pros. Hints and Tips -Be aware -Lock the doors even if you are on the property -Don’t leave wallets on tables and counters -If you have an unwanted visitor, don’t get
between them and the door -Call 911 if you see someone suspicious we do
want to hear from you |
These
address plaques will help to make sure your house number is visible from the
street. And allow your family and
friends, as well as emergency vehicles, to find you.
