WHAT BAYVIEW VILLAGE ASSOCIATION (BVA) DOES FOR YOU

·        Organizes community events/activities such as the annual Garden Tour and the Winter Home Decorating Contest that bring neighbours together.

·        Assesses and minimizes any negative impacts of all new land developments in and around the Village, and bring changes beneficial to our neighbourhood.  In recent years we have been actively involved in monitoring the tall towers and large, high-density developments along our major roads, such as Sheppard, Bayview, Finch and Leslie.

·        We have successfully advocated reduction in heights of towers, and reduction in densities.  We have also caused reduction in numbers of cars from these developments, thus reducing traffic congestion and traffic infiltration on roads in and around our neighbourhood.

·        Represents the Village’s interests to your elected representatives and various Government Agencies regarding issues that affect the Village such as:

·  Zoning-By-Laws  · Provincial Policies · Toronto’s Official Plan · Land Redevelopments

·  Traffic  · Parking · Infrastructure · Crime & Safety · Trees & Parks · The Environment · Schools

·        Organizes Neighbourhood Watch, which looks out for safety and crime in the village.

·        Supports beautification of the Village by purchasing planters, lobbying for trees and shrubs and opening up the Ravines for our enjoyment.

·        Organizes the Village’s Annual Spring Clean Up.

·        Keeps you informed of ongoing community news and issues, via monthly Newsletters and our Website: www.bayviewvillage.org

·        Publishes an annual Directory for members to get to know their neighbours.

·        Holds All-Candidates Meetings prior to Municipal, Provincial or Federal elections, to enable you to express your views and get to know the candidates.

·        Holds a General Meeting annually, for residents to meet the BVA executive.

The BVA Executive: consists of members who have decided to volunteer their time and effort to work actively on various committees of the association with respect to:

·  Social and Community Events  ·  Membership  ·  Municipal and Government Affairs

·  Neighbourhood Watch  ·  Communications  ·  General Administration
